Where to plant lavender so that it grows luxuriantly? The plant loves the sun

You can grow lavender both in the garden and in a pot. The most important thing is that it grows in a sunny, warm position, sheltered from the wind. As for the soil, it should be highly permeable, with a high calcium content and not too high moisture. Flowers will be much better in a dry area, so you can plant them on a hill or escarpment, from where excess water will freely flow down. It is worth adding a little bit of fine gravel or sand to the lavender soil in the pot.

How often should you water lavender? Follow a simple rule

it is an extremely resistant flower that tolerates temporary drought much better than overwatering. Therefore, when watering it, follow one simple rule: better less than more. In the ground, it should be irrigated directly into the soil only in a situation when the heat and the rainless period are prolonged, and the ground in which it grows is very dry – not only from above, but also deeper. This is very important as over-watering will lead to the plant’s wasting away. When it comes to lavender in a pot, things are a bit different here. It should be watered often, but sparingly enough not to flood the roots.

This is the most important treatment in lavender care. Don’t skip him

In order for lavender to keep its beautiful shape and bloom profusely, regular pruning is necessary. This should be done twice a year. in early April, shorten the shoots by about 1/3 of their length in such a way as to form a ball. Thanks to this, the sun will reach all the flowers evenly. Carry out the next pruning at the beginning of autumn, i.e. in mid-September. On a warm, cloudy and rainless day, cut young, non-woody shoots, shortening them by about half their length. Just be careful not to overdo it, as this can result in poorer flowering. In addition, it is worth pruning lavender also in the summer, and more precisely, regularly getting rid of faded inflorescences.
