The six candidates for the presidential candidacy of the ruling National Regeneration Movement (Morena) concluded their political tours of the country this weekend, to give way to the final stage in which the candidate for 2024 of the party founded by the current president of Mexico, Andres Manuel Lopez Obrador.
As of Monday, a survey will begin, an estimated 12,500 in total, among its bases, from August 28 to September 3, while from September 4 to 6 the results will be processed and the same 6 will be disclosed the candidate de Morena, where a duel is taking place between the former mayor of Mexico City, Claudia Sheinbaum, and former foreign minister Marcelo Ebrard.
This Sunday, Ebrard in his closing in the Mexican capital, before some 20,000 followers who attended the Arena Ciudad de México, assured that his proposal seeks to bring back the greatness of Mexico.
“Today we begin the path to win the 2024 elections (…) we want to be prepared so that whatever happens in the United States we know what to do, act on time and that they never see us less, that they do not bend us, defend ourselves and do it good”, Ebrard said in a speech lasting about 20 minutes.
“We are going to bring the best company in the world to Mexico in the coming years, we want to know, have and develop the Mexico that we have dreamed of as a generation, the country that we want and long for. We also want to invest in all regions of the country,” exposed a triumphalist Ebrard and who practically all the time repeated the phrase “We are going to win, we are going to win!”
Ebrard, who together with Sheinbaum leads the preferences of the ruling party, among six competitors, accused in recent weeks that the party had supported Sheinbaum using public resources and said that their events pressured people to attend (carried).
“The people who are (here today) come because they are free, they are convinced and they are committed and that is why we are going to win because with free will nobody can”said Ebrard, who was accompanied by his wife Rosalinda Bueso.
For his part, the former Secretary of the Interior, Adán Agusto López, third in preferences, also closed his tours with a rally at the Monument to the Revolution in Mexico City, while Sheinbaum did the same at a meeting in the city of Xalapa , Veracruz.
Between Saturday and Sunday, Ebrard, Sheinbaum and López, senators Ricardo Monreal and Manuel Velasco and deputy Gerardo Fernández Noroña, aspiring to lead Morena’s 2024 presidential candidacy, concluded their “informative tours” throughout the country, which began on June 19.
On Saturday, the opposition Broad Front for Mexico held its fifth and last forum in the city of Mérida, capital of the state of Yucatán, in addition to tours among the candidates, Beatriz Paredes and Xóchitl Gálvez, who are seeking the presidential candidacy for the elections of the June 2, 2024.
With this forum, the opposition, made up of the National Action Parties (PAN), Institutional Revolutionary Party (PRI) and the Democratic Revolution Party (PRD), closed this stage and is heading to the second poll that will take place from 27 to 30 August, through which the opposition candidate who will be announced on September 3 will be selected.
