four australian surfers who went missing after the boat they were on was hit by a storm have been rescued in Indonesia after spending 38 hours missing.

They were first located Steph Weisse, Will Teagle, Jordan Short and two unnamed Indonesian citizens”floating on surfboards” by a chartered boat. Later, he was tracked down Elliott Footewith an Indonesian crew member still missing.

Foote’s father claims that his son was separated from the rest of the group because he had gone looking for help, as he told CNN: “He left his companions floating in the water to go get help. The charter boat found them and then went looking for Elliot.”

The ship the group was on was last seen on Sunday night, after meeting with bad weather and heavy rain on his journey to Pinang Island from Nias.
