As a result of a call carried out through the social network TikTokhundreds of young people appeared running in the center of London with the intention of hold up the shops on Oxford Street. The call reached the ears of the Police, who mobilized to stop it and even stopped traffic.

“We are aware of the speculation about opportunities for commit crime around oxford street“, alerted the security forces on Twitter, who warned that anyone who occasions incidents will be “treated forcefully.”

During the afternoon, the Police reported that they had executed 11 “dispersal orders” to keep people away from Oxford Street. Given the concentration that formed from 3:00 p.m. local time (2:00 p.m. GMT), some stores temporarily lowered their blinds, although there were no serious incidents or confrontations with the agents, as EFE was able to verify.

The Police plan to maintain a “highly visible” presence in the area for the next few hours, which includes officers on horseback and numerous police vehicles. Hours earlier, the mayor of London, Sadik Khanhad urged young people who had seen calls on social networks to “not go to Oxford Street”.

“The police understand why some people might be tempted to go to that part of London. Don’t get sucked into a place that could be high crime“said the mayor.
