Boeing 737 Max is again fit to fly in China after suspension in 2019

To date, 175 countries have re-licensed the aircraft.

The Civil Aviation Administration of China today re-granted the airworthiness license to the Boeing 737 MAX, which has been prohibited from flying in the Asian country since March 2019, after two accidents, in Ethiopia and Indonesia, which caused the death of almost 350 people, according to the Chinese media Yicai.

However, the medium emphasizes, the concession does not mean that the 737 MAX can return to the skies of China in no time, as “aircraft modifications” by Chinese airlines and “pilot training” are still needed.

A Boeing 737 MAX already carried out its first flight tests in China last August after the suspension.

On that occasion, the aircraft took off from Pudong International Airport in Shanghai (east) and 17 minutes later arrived in Zhoushan, located about 150 kilometers to the south.

Till the date, 175 countries have re-licensed of airworthiness to the plane.

The CEO of the US firm, Dave Calhoun, declared last October that he was confident that the Boeing 737 Max would fly again later this year in China, one of its most important markets. (I)
