The foreign ministers of the G7 agreed to coordinate regarding the situation in Russiafollowing the rebellion of the wagner group against the military leadership of the Russian president, Vladimir Putinduring an emergency conference call held on Saturday.
The G7 foreign ministers participated this Saturday in a telephone meeting where they debated “pressing issues facing the international community, including the situation in Russia”according to the head of Japanese diplomacy, Yoshimasa Hayashi, in a statement published today.
The call has lasted about 40 minutes and included the ministers of the Group of Seven -formed by JJapan, the United States, Canada, France, Italy, Germany and the United Kingdom-, except the Italian, as well as a representative of the European Union.
All of them “shared the view that the G-7 will continue to work closely together”pick up the text.
The group’s response comes after a challenge that started on Friday night, when the uprising of the Russian mercenary group Wagner was announced, alleging that they had suffered an attack by the Russian Ministry of Defense itself.
The head of this group, Yevgeny Prigozhin, has already stopped his rebellion against Putin’s military leadership 200 kilometers from the capital to avoid bloodshed, he said.
The Russian president described the Wagner uprising as treason and affirmed that those responsible will pay for it.
