We all want children to be able to learn and experience the digital world, but with proper data privacy protection”, said Information Commissioner John Edwards.

“Companies that provide digital services have a legal obligation to establish that protection, but our provisional opinion is that TikTok did not meet that requirement.

TikTok said that it disagreed with the ICO.

While we respect the ICO’s role in safeguarding privacy in the UK, we do not agree with the preliminary views expressed and intend to formally respond to the ICO in due course.”, the short video platform said in a statement.
