Biden hopes to meet Xi Jinping in the coming months

The president of USA, Joe Bidensaid on Saturday that he hopes to meet his Chinese counterpart, Xi Jinpingin the coming months, after the long-awaited trip of the US Secretary of State, Antony Blinken, to Beijing.

“I look forward to meeting with Xi again in the coming months and discussing the legitimate differences we have and how to overcome them.” explained the president to the press before traveling to Philadelphia.

Biden made these statements while Blinken is flying to China on a long-awaited trip that was scheduled for last February but was postponed after the United States detected an alleged Chinese spy balloon flying over its territory.

The president declared the balloon episode over this Saturday, revealing that he believes it was not something “deliberate”since, according to him, the Chinese government did not know where the balloon that Biden ordered to shoot down was.

“I think it was something more embarrassing than intentional”settled the president.

China has always denied the espionage accusations and has assured that the device was a weather balloon.

Blinken will arrive in Beijing on Sunday to meet with authorities from the Asian country and reduce the high tension of recent months over the Taiwan issue and the war in Ukraine.

It is the first visit by a US secretary of state to China since 2018.

This same week, Blinken denounced that Cuba hosts a Chinese spy station, something that both Beijing and Havana have categorically denied.

Before leaving, the leader of US diplomacy said the goal of his trip is to build “stable communication channels” between the US and China to avoid “misunderstandings” that result in a conflict, as agreed by Biden and Xi when they met last year in Bali (Indonesia).
