Emergency services recover in Ukraine the lifeless bodies that appear in the houses of one of the areas most affected by the destruction of the Nova Kakhovka dam. The corpses pile on the trucks after the lowering of the waters, which has revealed the magnitude of the tragedy.
The blowing up of the dam was intentional, according to international experts who collaborate with the Ukrainian Prosecutor’s Office. “We are certain at this point that it was a deliberate attack and we believe that explosives were placed inside the dam itself,” explains the lawyer from the human rights firm Global Rights Compliance, Catriona Murdoch.
The expert therefore rules out that the reason was poor management or wear and tear on the structure. Ukraine investigates him as a war crime. Meanwhile, the counteroffensive does not stop on either side. The last thing was a Russian missile that hit a car in the Kharkiv region.
Ukraine claims to have taken the initiative, but calls for long-range weapons to deal with Russia. In his meeting with the delegation of African presidents, Zelensky asked them to participate in his own peace initiative. “It’s not just fertilizer and grain, thousands of children have been stolen from us. We don’t have drinking water, we have massive burials,” said the leader.
However, from Africa they are betting on a mutual de-escalation that will facilitate the arrival of grain and fertilizers, even from Russia. Today they will meet with Putin, they want to be mediators but Zelensky questions this visit.
