The Panamanian restaurant Maito, the Ecuadorian Nuema and the Peruvian Mérito enter for the first time in the list of the best 100 restaurants in the world, prepared by “The World’s 50 Best Restaurants”, which this Thursday published the second tranche of these recognitions.
The full list will be released on June 20 in the Spanish city of Valencia.
As reported today on its website “The World’s 50 Best Restaurants”, Mérito (Lima), opened in 2018 by the Venezuelan chef Juan Luis Martinezdebuts on this world list at number 59, after occupying position 22 on the list of the Best Restaurants in Latin America.
Another new entry (position 79) is that of new (Quito) of the couple formed by Alejandro Chamorro and Pia Salazar. A house where both bring the biodiversity of her country to the table and where Salazar serves desserts that have won her the award for Best Pastry Chef in Latin America in 2022.
Lastly, the cook Mario Castrellon and his restaurant Maito (Panama City) entered this list for the first time at number 100, after being ranked as the Best Restaurant in Panama for the last seven years and in 2022 it climbed to number 6 on the list of the Best Restaurants in Latin America.
On the other hand, (position 54) is Mayor (Guadalajara, Mexico) by Paco Ruano; Lasai by Rafa Costa e Silva (Rio de Janeiro, Brazil) is at number 58; Otequein Rio de Janeiro, by Alberto Landgraf, in 76 and in position 70 is Sud 777 (Mexico City), by Edgar Núñez, who is hosting the “mexican vegetable cuisine” for years.
