A seven-story building in a central neighborhood of the Australian city of sydney caught fire this Thursday causing the collapse of one of its gigantic walls in a nearby street, without causing fatalities or serious injuries.

Images captured by the New South Wales State Fire and Rescue Service showed the dramatic fall of one of the walls of the building, as well as some burned vehicles, while aerial shots released by the local media revealed the gigantic tongues of fire in a completely destroyed structure.

A spokesman for the New South Wales State Fire and Rescue Service told a news conference in Sydney that the fire – whose smoke was seen from various points of the city – has been brought under control, although it took several hours to put out the flames.

Likewise, a firefighter was “slightly injured” with a burn on the arm as a result of this fire in that building that was apparently unoccupied, explained the spokesman in statements broadcast today by the Australian public channel ABC.

About hundred firefighters and twenty tanker trucks went to Randle Street where the fire broke out to attend to the emergency, while the New South Wales Police evacuated hundreds of people from the surrounding buildings and closed the surrounding streets. So far the causes of the fire are unknown.
