It is not the first time that these fish appear in the area.

In this site, piranha appearances had already occurred. On this occasion, more than 30 people were injured and had to be treated for cuts to their hands and feet. The most serious case was that of a 13-year-old adolescent who had to have a finger amputated: she underwent a graft in the fifth metatarsal at the Doctor Orlando Alassia Children’s Hospital.
The bathers were in the Setúbal lagoon, on the eastern coast of the capital of Santa Fe. Without imagining the presence of these fish, which is favored by the suffocating temperatures and warm water.
Palometas are similar to piranhas, they move in shoals and prefer low-water areas to feed. It is a large and very voracious fish that has very sharp teeth with great cutting power.
It is not the first time that an accident of this type has happened, every summer bites are reported in bathers and, on certain occasions, there are attacks by shoals of palmettos that end up with many injured people.
“For all this, the population is asked not to enter the water, especially taking into account that this downspout period will continue in the coming months,” they asked from the Municipality of Santa Fe. (I)
