Several children have been injured this Thursday after collapse a pedestrian bridge in the Finnish town of Espoo, near the capital, as reported by the Helsinki health authorities. In total, according to a spokesman for the rescue services quoted by Reuters, there are 27 injured, most of them minors.
In a statement, the hospital authority specifies that the injured minors belonged to a group of schoolchildren and that 15 patients have been transferred to four hospitals. His injuries, he adds, are mainly fractures of the extremities. The statement also provides a service number for the families of those affected:
For its part, the Finnish Police have confirmed that the bridge, a plywood walkway, has collapsed around 09:30 and several people have fallen a few meters when giving up the bridge.
The wounded, he adds, have been transported to various hospitals from the Helsinki region and there are emergency services, first aid and police units deployed on site. In addition, the Police are investigating what happened.
