The president of the United States, Joe Biden, will announce this Tuesday that his country will take advantage of strategic oil reserves to help offset an increase in gasoline prices, according to local media.
US Executive sources told ABC that the measure will be formally announced by the White House this morning before Biden delivers a speech addressing this issue.
According to CNN, Biden will specifically announce that the Department of Energy will release 50 million barrels of oil from the Strategic Petroleum Reserve.
The move is part of the effort to reduce high gas prices and address the lack of oil supply around the world.
This announcement will be made in coordination with other major energy consuming nations, such as China, India, Japan, the Republic of Korea and the United Kingdom, the White House explained in a statement.
