Ukraine has intercepted and shot down a drone that was flying over the center of Kyiv, very close to the Ukrainian presidential palace. The images, which were produced late this Thursday afternoon, show how the remains of the device have fallen on a four-story building that has ended up catching fire.

This same Thursday several drones have attacked Kyiv in what could be a severe response from the Kremlin to the alleged attack on the Russian presidential building that could be intercepted by the country’s authorities last Tuesday. Following this incident, Russia accuses Ukraine of trying to assassinate Vladimir Putin, and points to the United States as the mastermind behind the bombing, which did not cause any injuries.

The explosions have been repeated in what is now the fourth attack on the capital in recent days. As reported by the Ukrainian authorities, at least one drone was shot down after anti-aircraft units went into action during the raid, which began shortly after 8:00 p.m. and lasted about 20 minutes.

The mayor of kyiv, Vitaliy Klitschko, has assured that there have been two impacts from downed drones. “During the last air alert, an unmanned aerial vehicle was detected over Kyiv. The object was shot down by the air defense forces,” the head of the military administration of the city of kyiv, Serhiy Popkoso, reported on Telegram.

Popko has assured that it has also been possible to control the building fire caused by the demolition of another drone in the Solomyanskyi district, west of the city center.

Local authorities had declared an alert for the capital and its outskirts. However, the explosions have caught many residents by surprise that, despite having gone to the anti-aircraft shelters, they have ensured that the drones arrived faster than usual after the alerts were declared.
