The new life of Yana, the 11-year-old girl who lost her legs in a Russian bomb

It happened at the train station, an attack in which fifty civilians died and dozens of people were injured. Yana’s mother also lost both legs and his grandmother was killed by one of the bombs.

Their story went around the world when they tried to leave Donbas in the middle of the Russian offensive. the bomb exploded while queuing for hot tea. The mother has spent 20 days in the ICU at a hospital in Lviv.

After spending several months in a wheelchair, mother and daughter traveled to the United States at the end of June to receive prostheses in the legs. Now, Yana and her brother are counting down the days to go to school in San Diego at the start of a new life without the constant threat of bombs.
