The injured were taken to hospitals nearby in the aftermath of the accident, according to Swiss authorities.
Six customers of a shopping center in eastern Switzerland were injured on Saturday when Christmas decorations fell off the ceiling, police announced.
These were beams on which large colored bulbs and other festive decorations had been installed.
The incident occurred in the early afternoon at the Mythen shopping center in Ibach, in the canton of Schwyz, the regional police said, adding in a tweet that six people had been injured and the building had been evacuated.
According to the Swiss media, the decorations fell on a Christmas market installed in the shopping center.
“Suddenly I heard a loud noise,” said a customer on the internet edition of Blick Daily. “People were in shock,” he added.
Photos published by the local newspaper Bote der Urschweiz show numerous ambulances at the crash site and a rescue helicopter spinning in the sky.
Police spokesman Florian Grossmann informed the newspaper that the injured had been taken to hospitals in the region.
One person, seriously injured, was transferred to a hospital in another Swiss region, according to the ATS news agency. (I)
