Macron says Europe should not follow US or Chinese policy on Taiwan

The French President, Emmanuel Macron, He said in comments published on Sunday that Europe had no interest in an acceleration of the crisis on Taiwan and that it should pursue a strategy independent of both Washington Like from Beijing.

Europe must better finance its defense industry, develop nuclear power and renewable energy and reduce dependence on the US dollar to limit its dependence on the United States, both media quoted him as saying.

The joint interview took place on a flight between Beijing and the city of Guangzhou on Friday.

On Friday, a Macron adviser told reporters in Guangzhou that Xi and Macron had a “dense and frank” discussion on the Taiwan issue during their meetings.

“The president’s feeling is that we have to be careful that there is not an accident or an escalation of tensions (that could lead) to the Chinese going on the offensive,” said the adviser Elysium.

Macron traveled to China with a delegation of 50 businessmen, including Airbus and nuclear power producer EDF, who signed agreements during the visit.
