A total of nine people remain missing after the collapse of a building in the center of Marseille last night due to an explosion, as reported by the French Prosecutor’s Office.

The prosecutor has indicated that for the moment the causes of the explosion that caused the collapse are unknown. “The expert has not yet been able to access the place due to the risk it entails, since the situation has not yet stabilized. There are still very hot areas,” she explained. A neighbor in the area has reported that he could hear “a big explosion” and that when he approached the area he could see “a lot of dust” and “smell” of gas.
