Kate Moss is an icon of the 90s and one of the most recognizable faces in the world of modeling. She started her career when she was only 14 years old. It quickly gained immense popularity, and with it came temptations, first scandals, and rehab.

In the summer of 1988, at the New York airport, the attention of a talent scout from one of the modeling agencies, Storm Model Management, was caught by an inconspicuous 14-year-old girl. This is how the great career of Kate Moss, today a modeling icon and one of the most recognizable in history, began. On January 16, she turned 49 and today does not remember the beginning of her career very well.

The teenage girl had to wait until 1990 for her first serious cover shoot. Then her smiling face with a plume on her head appeared on the cover of “The Face” magazine. Two months later, Moss reappeared on The Face, this time during a beach shoot.

At first, there was no mention of nude photos. Years later, the model recalled that it was not a pleasant experience. “When I look at these photos and see a 16-year-old girl who was told to pose topless, I think it was violence. Then I went to the restroom to undress, and there I cried. I felt terrible. I hated my flat breasts and mole. But I had no choice. If I refused, it would be the end of the job – in one of the interviews. “As soon as I took off my underwear, I was very ashamed. I felt something was wrong. I quickly grabbed my things and ran away. It sharpened my instincts a lot. Now I can spot the wrong person a mile away – in an interview with BBC Radio 4.

At the age of 18, Kate Moss became the face of Yves Saint Laurent, then Versace, and finally Calvin Klein. The session with Mark Wahlberg aroused great controversy. The campaign featuring tiny Moss wearing only white panties has been criticized for promoting pedophilia. “I couldn’t get out of bed for two weeks. I had a nervous breakdown. I felt terrible, I cried. I wanted to die. The doctor prescribed me Valium – Moss years later. The model quickly fell into the whirlwind of events. – My mother used to tell me: remember that you can’t have fun all your life. I told her, “Why not?” she confessed years later.

Partying in clubs quickly turned Moss into alcoholism and ended up in rehab. In 2005, there was another scandal. On the cover of the British magazine “Daily Mirror” there was a photo of Kate Moss taking cocaine. As a result, the model issued a public apology, went to another rehab and broke off old acquaintances. “I live in denial. I could keep getting drunk, but I started noticing that I wasn’t happy. I had no control over myself, and alcohol doesn’t make us feel better. But I couldn’t think straight because I was basically hungover all the time, in an interview with The Sun.

Today Moss lives in London. Her daughter Lila also started her modeling career. Kate Moss runs her own agency.
