Kyiv tried to penetrate the Zaporizhia nuclear power plant on October 19, according to the newspaper ‘The Times’. Ukrainian special forces they failed in the attempt to recover the nuclear power plant largest in Europe, occupied by the Kremlin army since March 2022.
According to the British newspaper, 600 elite soldiers, deployed on the north bank of the Dnipro River, they rushed to take control of the plant with more than 30 ships full of weapons.
In a video you can see how the Ukrainian special forces got there in speedboats and armed with three heavy machine guns and MK19 automatic grenade launchers.
Supported by HIMARS rocket launchers and elite troops, Zelensky’s troops launched into their objective despite the risk it posed. In front were the Russian military. According to the aforementioned newspaper, there were heavy clashes on the river, but one of the teams reached the other coast.
Until now, Russia and Ukraine have accused each other for months of attacks near the plant and the risk it posed, but Kyiv does not recognize the attack.
The truth is that the fighting has not stopped near Zaporizhia since Russia took control of the plant in March last year. In fact, this same Sunday, the Russian Ministry of Defense has reported of a missile attack on a warehouse with fuel in the city, where, according to Ukraine, two people died as a result of the shelling.
The International Atomic Energy Organization has called for the fighting to stop from day one, and have even managed to enter the nuclear compound. The objective, they say, is to establish a protection zone that prevents attacks.
