Former US President Donald Trump has spoken for the first time after pleading not guilty to 34 charges in the framework of the alleged bribery of the pornographic actress Stephanie Clifford, known as Stormy Daniels, and has assured that “there is no case”, as well as that it was not done “nothing illegal”.
“The hearing was shocking to many because there were no ‘surprises’ and therefore no case. Virtually all legal experts have said there is no case here. Nothing was done illegally!” has underlined in the Truth Social social network.
The former president has also reported that he will give statements to the press around 8:15 p.m. (local time) from his residence in Mar-a-Lago, in the state of Florida. In another message, Trump has also echoed the cost of the operation for the case, assuring that the Manhattan district attorney, Alvin Bragg, has “closed” the city and has mobilized 38,000 police officers.
The billionaire tycoon was indicted last week for the possible secret payment of $130,000 (more than 120,000 euros) to Clifford by former president Michael Cohen’s former lawyer. Trump has thus become the first former US president to be indicted which could end his aspirations to return to the White House in the elections scheduled for 2024.
