At least one death and thirty injuries to the derail a passenger train after colliding with construction equipment on the track in the municipality of Voorschoten, between The Hague and Leidenin the western Netherlands.

Among the balance of victims, there is one dead and wounded of different severity. The seriously injured have been taken to hospitals, while more than a dozen injured have been treated at the scene.

Local authorities have reported that it is an intercity train, which collided at 3:25 a.m. on Tuesday, in which between 50 and 60 people were traveling, as reported by the NOS television channel.

According to unconfirmed reports, the train collided with a crane that was standing on the rails, although the first reports spoke of the collision of two trains.

Several of the wagons are off the tracks and the train traffic has been suspended. In addition, one of the wagons has caught fire, although the Fire Department has managed to completely extinguish it.
