“The incident involving a passenger train occurred near the village of Voorschoten around 03:25 (04:25 Moscow time), the rescuers said in a statement. – One person died. About 30 people were injured.” Most of the injured were treated on the spot. People with more serious injuries were taken to the hospital.
Specialists are working to eliminate the consequences of the accident in order to restore the movement of trains.
The incident occurred near the village of Voorschoten in the province of South Holland on Tuesday night. According to the security service, the passenger train crashed into construction equipment. Details are not specified. Local media claim that it is a crane moving on rails.
According to preliminary data, a total of 50-60 people were on the train. According to eyewitnesses, the front part of the train derailed and ended up in a field, the middle part fell on its side, and a fire started in the tail part, which was quickly extinguished.
The village of Voorschoten is located between The Hague and Leiden. Due to the incident, train traffic on this section was suspended.
