The French Prime Minister, Elisabeth Borne, has criticized the Secretary of State for the Social and Solidarity Economy, Marlène Schiappa, for “it is not appropriate” his appearance in an interview in the French edition of ‘Playboy’ magazine accompanied by several photographs. Schiappa appears dressed in the images striking poses.
For Borne, this appearance “was not adequate a fortiori in the current” period of contestation for the approval of the controversial pension reform. “He’s Heartbreaking” or “We thought it was April Fool’s Day“Several heavyweights in French politics have opined, including personalities from their own political party, The Republic On The Move, led by President Emmanuel Macron, reports the BFMTV network.
Instead, other voices such as that of the Interior Minister, Gérald Darmanin, have defended Schiappa. “You will not make me say anything bad about Marlène Schiappa (…). Being a liberated woman is not so easy,” he pointed out. The magazine includes an extensive interview in which the Secretary of State talks about, among other things, on women’s rights.
Schiappa herself has reacted on Twitter with a message in which she argues that “I defend the right of women to dispose of his body everywhere and at all times”. “In France, women are free. With all due respect to retrogrades and hypocrites,” he stressed.
