At least six people died and eight others were injured in a Russian shelling in the center of Kostyantynivka in the Donetsk region of eastern Ukraine, reported Andriy Yermak, head of the Office of the Ukrainian President.
“Eight people were injured: they suffered shrapnel wounds. All of them are receiving medical assistance. Six people died,” Yermak said in a Telegram message.
He added that 16 apartment buildings were damagedeight private houses, a kindergarten, the building of the Kostyantynivka State Tax Inspectorate, gas pipes and three cars.
In a previous message, he had reported that “the Russians massively bombarded the city of Kostyantynivka with multiple rocket launchers and cluster munitions“. Subsequently, he noted that two attacks were carried out with S-300 systems and four – with Uragan multiple rocket launchers.
The head of the Donetsk regional military administration, Pavlo Kyrylenkoconfirmed at first the death of three people and another six wounded in the bombardment.
“The Russians shelled the central part of the city this morning. Numerous residential buildings and private houses were severely damaged. At the moment, the victims are receiving the necessary assistance. Rescue teams and the police are working at the scene of the facts,” he wrote in a message on Telegram.
He added that information on the extent of the damage and the number of victims will be updated as it becomes available.
