The Russian authorities have American journalist Evan Gershkovich arrested on charges of espionage. Gershkovich works for the American newspaper The Wall Street Journal in the Moscow correspondent. They have accused him of “carrying out espionage activities for the US government”, as confirmed by the Federal Security Service (FSB).

The FSB has highlighted that the journalist, who has been detained in the city of Yekaterinburg and He faces a possible sentence of up to 20 years in prison.is suspected of “acting on orders from the United States to collect information constituting state secrets about the activities of one of the companies of the Russian military-industrial complex”.

According to these reports, the journalist was collecting information about the Wagner Groupwhich is owned by oligarch Yevgeni Prigozhin (close to President Vladimir Putin) and has sent mercenaries to Ukraine.
