Pope Francisco He has been admitted to the Gemelli hospital in Rome since this afternoon to undergo “some previously scheduled controls,” according to the Vatican press office.

In a brief message, the Vatican has only communicated that the Argentine pontiff is in the hospital but has not mentioned how long he will be hospitalized and if it is due to the operation on the colon to which he underwent in July 2021.

In a recent interview with the US agency AP, Francisco, 86, revealed that he was suffering from diverticulathe problem for which he had to be operated on and a small part of his colon was removed but he was in good health.

Francis underwent surgery in this Roman hospital on July 4, 2021 and was discharged after 10 days, followed by a slow recovery.

Since then, the pope has only suffered right knee problem that forces him to walk with a cane or a wheelchair and has assured on several occasions that he does not want to operate. During the morning of today, Francisco held the general audience and he was seen to be in good health and without problems and next Sunday the Palm Sunday mass is scheduled.
