Rishi Sunak paid more than a million euros in taxes since 2019

As for the previous 2020-2021 financial year, the politician paid the amount of 393,217 pounds (445,663 euros) and as for the 2019-2020 period, he had to pay 227,350 pounds (257,668 euros), more than one million pounds in total since 2019 .

According to these data, during the last fiscal period Sunak earned more than 1.9 million pounds (2.1 million euros) in both income and capital gains.

His salary for the 2021-2022 period as a deputy was 81,908 pounds (92,825 euros) and he received another separate salary for the position of minister he held before coming to power, estimated at 74,255 pounds (84,151 euros).

The tax statement also details the taxes paid on capital gains -although their origin is not specified- for those tax periods and specifically indicates that, as for 2021-2022, the politician paid the amount of 325,826 pounds (369,224 euros ).

Sunak had promised to make this information public for the sake of “a government of integrity, professionalism and accountability at all levels.”

The prime minister’s financial status first made headlines after the tax situation of his wife, Akshata Murty, came to light, who had non-resident tax status, a legal formula frequently used by foreign millionaires to not having to pay taxes to the British treasury.
