Prosecutor requests oral trial for Cristina Fernández de Kirchner in money laundering cases

In addition to Fernández, his children, Máximo and Florencia, are also being investigated.

The prosecutor for the Hotesur and Los Sauces cases, in which the vice president and former president of Argentina (2007-2015), Cristina Fernández de Kirchner, are being investigated for alleged money laundering, requested this Wednesday that the dismissal requested by the defense and progress with the oral trial, confirmed to Efe judicial sources.

Hotesur and Los Sauces are two similar processes related to alleged corruption and money laundering in the Kirchner family, and in which, in addition to Fernández, his children, Máximo and Florencia, who he had with the late former president Néstor Kirchner (2003 -2007).

The Hotesur case is named after the company owned by the former president and her two children – all prosecuted – that administered several hotels in the southern province of Santa Cruz, and that the Justice suspects that they served, by hiring rooms that were empty, to give a legal appearance to bribes from businessmen.

The same businessmen close to the Kirchners are involved in Los Sauces, who allegedly also channeled bribes through the rental of the company’s hotels with that name.

The defense of the vice president and her children had requested the termination of the case, which was later joined by other defendants.

The federal prosecutor Diego Velasco requested this Wednesday in his opinion that through the “rejection” of all the proposals of the defenses, “speed up” the process so that the date of the oral and public trial be set.

The Federal Oral Court 5 now must decide whether to dismiss Vice President Fernández and the rest of the defendants or whether to reject the proposals and confirm the holding of the oral trial. (I)
