Russia warns the United States. The Russian ambassador in Washington, Anatoli Antonov, has announced that “a deliberate attack against a Russian plane in neutral airspace it would be a declaration of war against the greatest nuclear power”.
The tension has not stopped growing since the Kremlin shoot down one of the most sophisticated drones of the US Air Force and the Pentagon ruled out that it was an accident.
Now, Antonov has declared that “an armed conflict between Russia and the United States it would be radically different of the war for proxy that the US authorities are waging at a distance in Ukraine” against the Kremlin.
The diplomat thus responded to a question from journalists in which they made reference to statements by Republican senators who have suggested shooting down Russian planes that approach US aircraft in international airspace.
In this sense, he has reiterated that the Russian fighters they did not come into contact with the US drone, but that it was flying with the transponders turned off and violating the delimited area, while the US forces denounced that one of the Russian fighters hit one of the propellers of the unmanned vehicle, for which it ended up shot down in the Black Sea. Thus, Antonov has maintained that “it is not necessary to draw attention to the Russian pilots, but to the American politicians who are inciting the start of an apocalyptic conflict“.
The words of the diplomat come just hours after the Russian Foreign Minister, Sergei Lavrov, admitted that any incident with the United States, such as the one that occurred on Tuesday between an American drone and two russian fighters in the black seacarries “very great risks”.
“Any incident that causes a confrontation between two great powers, two nuclear powers, the greatest in the world, It always carries great risks. They cannot not understand it,” Lavrov said in statements to the RossÃa-1 television channel.
Lavrov assured that, following Washington’s logic of flying “wherever they want”, then “the airspace around the United States has the same status as the Black Sea”. “But they totally ignore the fact that since the beginning of the special military operation (in Ukraine) certain areas of the Black Sea (…) were declared to have a restricted status for the use of any flying device,” he said.
In this sense, Lavrov acknowledged having suspicions that The US constantly tries to instigate confrontationwhich he considered contradictory to their claims that they are a responsible power interested in strategic stability.
