Ecuador authorizes the mandatory face-to-face return to classes from Monday

The Special Operations Committee, which governs the policies to face the pandemic, after a meeting of its members, agreed to the request made by the Ministry of Education. This decision will be effective in cities with 85% of their students vaccinated. He authorized a progressive return from next Monday, when 402,309 students will return to classes and on December 6 the rest of the high school and upper basic students will return to classes, which will complete the total.

In its Twitter account, the Ministry of Public Health stated that “students are protected if their entire family is vaccinated” and stressed that a new family vaccination effort will be activated to apply first and second doses “from five years and booster doses to health personnel and people over 65 years of age ”.

Among the provisions of the Committee are that teachers, children and young people, must use masks in classrooms, constant hand washing, prioritizing outdoor activities and ventilation of closed spaces.

Since the beginning of the pandemic in Ecuador, at the end of February 2020, this country has registered 521,845 infected and 33,089 deaths. Of the total of 17.3 million inhabitants, about 60% have been vaccinated in this country.
