Goal joined this Friday the race of the great technologies in the field of artificial intelligence (IA) with a tool aimed only at researchers with prior authorization, called LLaMA (Large Language Model Meta AI).
It is not a “chatbot” like the ones launched by Microsoft or Google, but a program for those who develop that guy of technology, which hopes to contribute to “limit or eliminate” current issues of bias, “toxicity” or “disinformation” that are weighing down these first results.
FLAME is a “large, next-generation foundational language model designed to help researchers advance their work in this subfield of AI” and search democratize access” for those who do not have sufficient infrastructure to study it, said Meta in a statement.
“Even with all these recent advances in large language models, full access to their research is still limited by the resources required to train and operate” that technology, which hinders understanding and solving their problems, he explained.
LLaMA is capable of generating text and is trained in the 20 most widely spoken languages, especially those with Latin and Cyrillic alphabets, the note indicates.
Meta noted that it releases this tool under a research-focused, non-commercial license to “prevent its misuse” and will only allow its use after reviewing one by one requests from associated researchers, educational institutions, governments, and civil society.
