Four days after the shooting death of a Catholic bishop of The Angelsthe Los Angeles authorities have reported the arrest of the her housekeeper’s husbandwhom they accuse of having killed the prelate.

The district attorney’s office has reported the arrest of oscar medina on Monday for shooting David O’Connell, 69 years old and a native of Ireland, who served as auxiliary bishop in the Archdiocese of Los Angeles. The body was found on Saturday in his house and this Wednesday Medina was arrested after a tip from an anonymous confidant.

The 61-year-old suspect was arrested by agents from the Los Angeles County sheriff’s office after the aforementioned anonymous source assured that he had seen him behave strangely and commented that the prelate owed him money.

The murder has caused a great commotion in the archdiocese, the largest in the United States with 5 million parishionersa few days before the celebration of Ash Wednesday and the start of Lent.

The man has been charged with a felony murder with a firearm. The motive behind the murder is still being investigated, but the prosecutor’s office has pointed out that, in addition to being the husband of his housekeeper, Medina himself had previously done work at the bishop’s house.
