AMLO on the guilt of García Luna: “A corruption regime is being dismantled”

The president of Mexico Andres Manuel Lopez Obrador (AMLO) pointed out that a regime of corruption, injustices and privileges is being dismantled after the guilt of Genaro García Luna, former Secretary of Public Security of Mexico (SSP), for the process that is followed in the Brooklyn court (United States) for his relationship with drug trafficking and authorities from high levels of USA

As recalled, Genaro García Luna was investigated and found guilty on charges of drug trafficking, criminal organization and false statements, for the actions he carried out while he was the Secretary of Security of Mexico. According to the court, the sentence is scheduled to take place on June 27 of this year.

Given these facts, the reactions of the Mexican president did not wait after learning the verdict of the US court.

What does AMLO say about García Luna?

The president of Mexico has declared on several occasions what he thinks of the García Luna trial. With the recent events, AMLO pointed out that this process helps to disintegrate a corruption regime that transformed and plunged the country into crisis.

“A transformation is taking place and a regime of corruption, of injustices, of privileges that its press had as its intellectuals had, is being dismantled, so that is the phenomenon. This is a transformation because the country needed it, we were not coming from a crisis, from a decline, from a process of progressive degradation. What happened yesterday about García Luna is part of that, it is a decadence ”, he pointed.

Likewise, the head of state urged García Luna to declare himself as a witness and to report if he received orders or informed the former presidents, both Fox Quesada and Felipe Calderón.

“And how do you face a decadence and a process of degradation that not only has to do with the economy but all fields of public life, with the political, the social, the moral? how do you face it? With a transformation, uprooting the regime of corruption, injustice, complicity, privileges and that, well, it is strong, that we should even celebrate that we are doing it peacefully, without violence “he mentioned to the media at a press conference.
