Foreign Minister Rogelio Mayta denounced “before the international community” an alleged “destabilization process” of which he accused the opposition and civic committees.
The president of Bolivia, Luis Arce, announced this Saturday the repeal of Law 1386 that led to a strike, marches and blockades in different regions of the country by unions and civic committees for six days and trusted that the situation has been normalize.
In a press conference this Saturday night from the seat of Government, the president announced the decision because “the country does not want more anxiety and uncertainty unnecessarily.”
“Listening to the demands of the Bolivian people, the sectorial demands, we have made the decision to repeal law 1386 in order, first, to pave the way so that there is no greater pretext to continue mourning, to continue mistreating, to continue paralyzing our economy , an economy that today is being damaged, “said Arce.
The Bolivian Government held this Saturday a dialogue with some sectors in order to dismantle the mobilizations started on Monday by informal merchants, transporters, civic committees and citizen platforms against the law of the National Strategy to Fight against the Legitimization of Illicit Profits and the Financing of Terrorism.
The head of state affirmed that a “distinction of facts” was made around the law, on the one hand with the factors that were “disturbing certain social sectors such as transport, or unions”, but considered that “it was also clear that there are a political agenda in that questioning that has been made “of the norm.
According to Arce, the transporters and informal merchants who carried out the strike “have been affected in their income” and said that the Executive has to ensure that the economy continues to recover and also “wants peace and tranquility in society.”
“We have the obligation to take care of the economy, democracy and our Bolivian families because everything that has happened is generating fear, anxiety and uncertainty unnecessarily in the country as a result of the fact that there are sectors that have other interests beyond those that mark the needs and concerns of the social sectors, “he insisted.
The strike began last Monday and coincided with the first year of the Government of Luis Arce. Throughout the week there were clashes between protesters and the police and groups related to the ruling party that tried to dissipate the protests, leaving a hundred detained and several injured.
On this day, there were six days of strike in regions such as Potosí, Cochabamba and Santa Cruz, the economic engine of Bolivia and where the strike was followed with greater force.

Arce appeared with Vice President David Choquehuanca and several union leaders related to his government.
His statement was preceded by the speeches of the trade unionists, who launched warnings of mobilizations to avoid the “second coup” that, according to the ruling party, was brewing in this conflict similar to the one they consider to have happened during the political crisis of 2019.
“Asking them to denounce the attitude of (those of) the right, if until Monday they do not lift their strike, they force us (to) with our own hands we are going to lift,” said peasant leader Ever Rojas, who also considered that “There must be a conjunctural political analysis” so as not to allow the “destabilization” of the Government.
“They are not the laws, the objective is to destabilize our government, the objective is to carry out a second coup (…) the social organizations are not going to allow it, we are in a state of emergency, we are ready to take to the streets, but not to go to confront, “said the leader of the Central Obrera Boliviana (COB), the miner Juan Carlos Huarachi.
Earlier, Foreign Minister Rogelio Mayta denounced “before the international community” an alleged “destabilization process” of which he accused the opposition and civic committees.
“We welcome the decision of our brother president @LuchoXBolivia to repeal Law 1386 together with the social organizations that are the basis of the Change Process. Our policy is to govern obeying the people and protect life and the economy from the coup preparations, ”former President Evo Morales wrote on Twitter. (I)
