Chinese President Xi Jinping is planning to visit Moscow to meet with his Russian counterpart, Vladimir Putin, in the coming months, according to The Wall Street Journal. The sources consulted by the aforementioned newspaper indicate that Xi wants to play a more active role to end the conflict in Ukraine, which this week marks one year since Russian troops invaded the country under Putin’s mandate.

A meeting between both leaders would be a boost for peace talksas well as the moment to reiterate the call to avoid the use of nuclear weaponsalthough this information has been published hours after Putin has announced the suspension of Moscow’s participation in the New Start agreementthe last pact signed between Russia and the United States for the reduction and control of nuclear weapons.
