The president of Peru, Pedro Castillo, ratified this Friday the “political decision” to fight organized crime and restore order “to give peace to the population,” for which he announced that his government will soon unveil a new plan for security to stop crime, one of the main demands of the citizens of your country.
“I invoke the National Police to act firmly and energetically against crime. We cannot contemplate crime to give peace of mind to our people, ”Castillo said during his participation in the ceremony for the delivery of two new Russian-made helicopters for the National Police of Peru (PNP).
The president remarked that organized crime has acquired “new and more violent forms of operation” and said that it has received a country imprisoned by delinquency, criminality and hitmen that “past governments have allowed to grow.”
“I reaffirm our respect for its institutions. The Armed Forces and the National Police are symbols of unity, work, courage, dedication and patriotism. Let us continue working together to promote the development of the country and fulfill the wishes of our people, ”he said.
In that sense, he announced that the new Interior Minister, Avelino Guillén, who took office last week, and the PNP director general, Javier Gallardo, will soon unveil a new security plan that will seek to curb crime. and criminality, as well as guaranteeing order and tranquility for the families of their country.
The president, who was accompanied by Prime Minister Mirtha Vásquez and Minister Guillén, indicated that the two helicopters handed over to the Police will be able to enter inhospitable areas of the country, such as border surveillance posts.
“Today we deliver to the Police Aviation Directorate two Russian-made helicopters that are added to our national fleet. These aircraft have the highest level of protection for the crew during interventions in the Huallaga and Vraem area, ”he pointed out in reference to the jungle regions where the security forces fight the remnants of the Shining Path terrorist group and the cartels. of drug trafficking.
He added that these aircraft will also carry out humanitarian aid operations, aeromedical evacuations, rescue against eventual natural disasters and will ensure the transfer of vaccines against covid-19 for peasant communities and high Andean areas.
Minister Guillén said, for his part, that the government will continue to “work to attend to the requirements of the police institution” and affirmed that “with all certainty” it can assure that they will “win the battle against crime, delinquency, to crime, to all the enemies of society ”.
“We will not yield one millimeter to terrorism and drug trafficking, or to that perverse combination called narco-terrorism. We will confront these scourges with rigor and without hesitation and, in this task, the Police have our support ”, he said.
