More than 70 migrants die in a shipwreck off the coast of Libya
It is estimated that at least 80 people were traveling on board the boat, who left the mainland last Tuesday with the aim of reaching Europe.

At least 70 migrant people have died as a result of a tragic shipwreck registered off the coast of Libya, as reported on Wednesday by the International Organization for Migration (IOM).
The ship, which had departed this Tuesday from Qasr Alkayar bound for Europe, it was carrying some 80 people, of whom seven managed to swim to the Libyan coast “in extreme conditions” and are currently hospitalized, the organization has indicated.
In 2022, IOM recorded 1,450 deaths on this route, which from Libya and other Maghreb countries is mainly destined for Italy and Malta.
