Haley was governor of her home state of South Carolina from 2011 to 2017, but was appointed by Trump as Washington’s representative to the UN in January 2017 and served until October 2018.
“I am Nikki Haley and I am a presidential candidate”said the Republican in a video shared with her followers. “It is time for a new generation of leadership: rediscovering fiscal responsibility, securing our border, and strengthening our country, our pride, and our purpose,” she said.
The former governor also highlighted her achievements as an ambassador, promised to fight against socialism and criticized the current president of the United States, Joe Biden.
“Some people look at America and see vulnerability,” Haley said. “The socialist left sees an opportunity to rewrite history. China and Russia are on the move. Everyone thinks that we can be intimidated, kicked. You should know this about me: I can’t stand bullies and when you kick them it hurts, especially if you’re wearing heels.”
Although after Trump’s departure from the White House both remained on good terms, the 51-year-old candidate marked her distance after the assault on the Capitol, on January 6, 2021. (YO)
