A shooting at a university in Michigan (USA) on Monday night left at least three dead and five injured, according to local authorities. The suspect in the attack, a man of “short stature” and wearing “a mask,” has been found dead with self-inflicted injuries, Michigan State University police said.
“There are at least five victims, all of whom were transported to a local hospital and several of whom have life-threatening injuries,” University Police Sheriff Chris Rozman said at a news conference. “The information available so far is preliminary and our priority is the safety of the campus and the students”he added.
On their Twitter account, the university police confirmed that the attack left at least three dead and five wounded. Authorities asked students and workers on the campus, where attacks on two buildings were reported, to take shelter while the situation is controlled.
State Governor Gretchen Whitmer said she was alerted to the situation. “Police officers and first responders are already in the area,” the policy wrote on her Twitter account. The university, located in the city of East Lansing, is one of the largest in the country, with more than 50,000 students.
