Behind the nightmare of the kidnapping that a woman suffered for 22 long days are her own parents and her father-in-law. The three were detained and the reason why they deprived her of her liberty, illegally, is unusual.
“He has a bad body” was what those involved in this case of abuse and violence responded.
To “remove” this “evil” they decided to perform a exorcism. They believed it necessary to “expel the demon” from her body after the 27-year-old woman notified them that she had separated from her husband.
Not agreeing with the decision, her parents and father-in-law locked her in the house.
The Spanish press has extensively reviewed the case and presented it as the first “islamic exorcism” that is known in that country.

How did this case of exorcism become known?
The strange situation occurred in Linares, Jaén (Spain). The police arrived at the address where this kidnapping took place thanks to an alert.
The Cuatro Al Día media outlet indicates that the woman’s sister expressed concern when she had not heard from the victim, so she contacted the authorities.
The uniformed men received a notice for an alleged crime of gender violence, the press indicates.
Antena 3 points out that “the agents were received by a couple who initially told them that nothing was happening there.” The people who attended the police force are of Pakistani origin.
As that couple tried, unconvincingly, to fool the cops, they managed to hear some screams and they entered the house.
In one of the bedrooms “they found a young girl with a man who was trying to cover her mouth to immobilize her. He was grabbing her by both wrists.”
That subject was the father-in-law, who, like the parents of the kidnapped woman, was of the idea that “she needed an exorcism because she had divorced a month before and they were looking for a religious.”
In this case, the person who entered to practice the exorcism had been the same father-in-law.
The victim, described the police officers, “was very nervous and crying, and with visible marks on her arms, face and lips.”
What did the exorcism victim say?
The Spanish press highlights that the woman had separated from her husband and went to Spain. Far from receiving hugs, some gesture of support, there was punishment.
“The young woman told the agents that she had arrived a month ago from the United Kingdom where she had divorced her husband. When she arrived at her parents’ house, in Linares, they detained her from the first day in the house against her will, leaving the key in the main door to prevent her from leaving it, “narrated the Police.

The “role” of the father-in-law
The father-in-law also found out about the separation from his son and the woman showed up at the young woman’s house.
“She came to Linares expressly to cure her. For this he had to ‘blow on’ her as part of the religious ritual, and thus ‘expel the demon from her body’ by performing an exorcism that would eliminate all evils”.
The young woman suffered 22 days of kidnapping: “they didn’t let her talk to anyone and they barely gave her food.”
The only thing they supplied him, specifies El País, was water, sugar and honey.
“I am very hungry,” the woman told the agents.
the father speaks
Cuatro al Día reports that he spoke with the father of the victim of this notorious kidnapping that was discovered at the end of last January. Both the woman’s parents and her father-in-law are already free, although with charges.
“The police arrested them at the time and the young woman has placed a restraining order on the three,” they explain.
“I don’t know anything about my daughter (…) He had a bad head and we were going to cure it”, insisted the father, before the reporter from Cuatro al Día, when “defending” the reason for the exorcism.
