Americans’ satisfaction with immigration has fallen to its lowest level in a decade as the share of those who want fewer migrants to enter the country has risen, according to a Gallup poll released Monday.
The level of satisfaction has dropped six points since January 2022 to 28% of those surveyed, and Gallup recalled that in 2008 that satisfaction was shared by just 24% of Americans.
“The flip side of 28% of Americans being satisfied is that 63% are dissatisfied”, the report noted.
Americans’ liking of immigration peaked at 41% in 2018, as President Donald Trump’s policy on migrants tightened.
