Police received the call at 5:30 p.m. about a shooting on West 44th Street and Eighth Street, where the man was found with a gunshot wound to his chest.
“There was a stampede of people trying to get away,” a witness, Will Colon, told the New York Daily News. “It was a couple of young men who shot him,” he explained. “His body was lying on the sidewalk. He was on his back shaking.”
“It didn’t look like it was going to survive,” he added.

According to the New York Police Department, the victim later died at Mount Sinai West Hospital. The entity launched a search for two suspects, who were seen with the murder weapon before getting on their motorcycle and fleeing.
Fighting Guns in New York
The incident occurred near Times Square, where there is a gun ban policy, a restriction implemented by the New York state legislature.
Since September, the possession of firearms has been prohibited in sensitive places such as bars, libraries, schools, government buildings, hospitals and vulnerable and high-traffic places, including Times Square.
The restrictions have faced multiple legal challenges by defenders of the right to bear arms. (YO)
