USA ha shot down the supposed chinese spy balloon that crossed the country and that has generated tensions in relationships with the Asian country. The order has been given by the US president himself, Joe Biden, after assuring the media that he was going to “deal” with said trial balloon.
Biden has been discussing the possible options with the military leadership since the balloon was first sighted last Tuesday. His advisors had warned him not to demolish it because the remains could cause material or personal damage. This Saturday the National Office of Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA, for its acronym in English) reported that the balloon would end up leaving the country through the east coast in the next few hours.
For its part, the Chinese government has insisted at all times that the presence of the balloon over US territory is due to an accident and that it is a civilian research artifactspecifically for meteorological purposes.
From the Office of Foreign Affairs of China, the person in charge, Wang Yihad asked the United States to “remain calm”, defending that China is a responsible country that “has always strictly respected international law.”
This balloon crisis is the latest incident in the tense relations between the United States and China. The situation has led the Secretary of State, Antony Blinken, to suspend the trip planned to do to China. “We are sure that it is a Chinese surveillance balloon,” Blinken said, assuming that “the conditions are not right for a constructive visit at this time.”
