A couple left their baby at Israeli airport check-in while trying to board a Ryanair flight after refusing to buy a ticket for the child.
Two parents with Belgian passports were detained by police after leaving her baby at the check-in counter at Tel Aviv’s Ben-Gurion Airport, according to the Jerusalem Post. The couple attempted to board a Ryanair flight from Tel Aviv to Brussels, but they had no ticket for their baby.
They refused to pay for one and appeared to have left their baby in the stroller as they walked to passport control. Airport staff realized what had happened and contacted the police, who found the parents and took them away for questioning.
The Ryanair office manager said everyone was shocked, telling the Jerusalem Post: “We have never seen anything like this. We couldn’t believe what we were seeing.”
According to the Israel Airports Authority, lWhat happened was that the couple arrived late at Terminal 1 after they closed the check-in counter. They wanted to go through to deal with security and simply left their baby on the area’s conveyor belt. (YO)
