Poland is considering calling NATO and closing the border with Belarus, with thousands of people crowded

The government of Poland has on the table a battery of measures to respond to the migratory pressure on its border, among which is the total closure of the passages with Belarus and the invocation of consultations within NATO, as recognized by a spokesperson.

Thousands of people crowd the Polish border, the result of what the Polish government, the EU and NATO have described as an orchestrated action by the Polish regime. Alexander Lukashenko. Dozens of people entered Poland on Tuesday night irregularly, which remains armored with about 15,000 military personnel.

The Executive confirmed this Wednesday the detention of all migrants who crossed the border, according to the PAP news agency. Specifically, according to the Police, they have been arrested more than 50 peopleAlthough the authorities have not clarified the fate of all of them or if they will be expelled.

The main spokesman for the Executive, Piotr Muller, has confirmed in a radio interview that among the measures that are currently being debated to respond to the migratory crisis is the total border closure, as well as applying article 4 of the Atlantic Alliance Treaty to reunite the organization.

Warsaw agrees with NATO that it is a “hybrid warfare” undertaken by Lukashenko, who already at the end of May warned that he would not prevent the arrival of migrants to the European Union in retaliation for the sanctions. The Polish media also broadcast these days images of thousands of more migrants in Minsk, as far as they would arrive by plane in order to make the leap to the EU.

In addition, the Polish authorities have denounced shooting by Belarusian armed agents on the other side of the border, which would contribute to increasing tension in an area where they had already accumulated between 3,000 and 4,000 people, according to official estimates.

The International Organization for Migration (IOM) estimates that at least eleven people have died on the borders between Belarus, Poland and Lithuania so far this year, although an agency spokesperson quoted by Europa Press has acknowledged that it is only the “confirmed” cases and that there could be even more victims.
