Luis Almagro asks OAS member countries to respond to ‘illegitimate’ elections in Nicaragua

The Secretary General of the Organization of American States (OAS), Luis Almagro, rejected on Tuesday the results of the “illegitimate” elections in Nicaragua and asked the member countries to respond to this “clear violation of the Democratic Charter” during the Assembly General starting tomorrow.

Almagro spoke on his Twitter account about the elections in which Nicaraguan President Daniel Ortega achieved his fifth term in a process questioned by different sectors.

In addition, it released a report on Nicaragua prepared by the OAS Secretariat for Strengthening Democracy, in which it states that the international community “must demand the annulment” of those elections “and call for the holding of a new process. electoral”. (I)
