‘Chito’ Vera climbs to eleventh place in the UFC bantamweight rankings and now wants a fight against Cory Sandhagen or Merab Dvalishvili | Other Sports | sports

The Ecuadorian does not rule out accepting a last minute call for the UFC Fight Night on December 12 if José Aldo or Rob Font fall off the card.

The knockout victory over Frankie Edgar last Saturday at Madison Square Garden in New York has placed Marlon Chito Vera in the eleventh position within the top 15th in the UFC (Ultimate Fighting Championship) bantamweight category, according to the rankings updates from the company’s official website on Monday.

With his success on the UFC 268 card, Vera rises from 13th place to 11th, while Edgar drops four places, from eighth to twelfth place.

With Monday’s changes, Pedro Munhoz (eighth), Marlon Moraes (ninth) and Dominick Cruz (tenth) also improve their position. Close the ranking Song Yadong, executioner of Chito Vera in May 2020 at UFC Florida.

Victorious in New York at the hands of local Frankie Edgar, the Ecuadorian planned to get into the top 10 of the division displacing -at the same time- Edgar, who was eighth classified until before the fight in the main card of UFC 268.

So the 40-year-old legend and former lightweight champion comes out of the top 10 and, consequently, jeopardizes its permanence within the list of the 15 best.

Meanwhile, Marlon Vera announced on Monday that in order to continue her climb in the ranking of the UFC would like for 2022 a fight against Cory Sandhagen or Merab Dvalishvili, third and sixth ranked, respectively. However, the Ecuadorian said he was willing to take the place of José Aldo (fifth) or Rob Font (fourth) in the event that one of them is injured in the fight that both have already agreed on December 4 at the UFC Apex in Las Vegas at the UFC Fight Night feature.

Chito (20-7-1 MMA, 12-6 UFC) revealed his wish in the interview he gave on Monday on the show The MMA Hour from MMA Fighting.
