The Doomsday Clock marks 90 seconds to the end of the world and is the closest the hands have ever come to doomsday

Every January the hands of the Doomsday Clock are adjusted. This system, created in 1947, indicates in a countdown how much is left until its hands symbolically mark 12:00 midnight, that is, the last day on Earth.

This last week of January 2023, the Bulletin of Atomic Scientists’ Science and Safety Council moved the hands of the Doomsday Clock closer to midnight than they have ever been.

This is the first change in three years in the clock time, which now stands at 90 seconds after midnight. This, in large part to the growing dangers of Russia’s senseless invasion of Ukraine, according to CNN.

When the clock strikes midnight, it means that some kind of nuclear exchange or catastrophic climate change has occurred that will wipe out humanity before long.
